i'm back!

Hallo people :D

I'm back! Back from what? Back from time out. In the meantime i've been quite creative. see? :D

This comic below was unearthed during a digital excavation in my old and rusty pc folders. I like this comic, despite the imbalance of frames and blah blah blah. :) little red riding hood got to be a uni student. :') there's more to that story, but it's not for now.

I am very fond of my old comics. Next update will be panellineage. The english title would be something like 'world of examcraft' or 'world of s.a.t.scraft' or whatever the final exams are called.

Oh, and let's not forget! People in Athens, little koumaki's going to be in πictures exhibition in February! I'll keep reminding you. :)

Google sKetchup

Hello people.

This week I was working on google sketchup. Ah, I love it!!! I am working on a 3-D model of a coffee house that I will use in my next project. The possibilities are endless....

Otherwise, I've been running these past few days, trying to get my 6-pages zombie comic done, studying, doing my art college exercises...

Oh, and I will take part in an exhibition scheduled for February 2011, at π bar in Gazi, Athens. :D

It will be AWESOME.

Also, I might be in for illustrating a dental laboratory handbook and a dentist's website. If everything goes well, it will be quite the opportunity to get in this field. I've heard scientific books illustration is worth it.

So, people (in Athens) keep an eye out for the:

PS: today, at the planetarium, i felt the urge to pick up a 'something mister science' box.

When i looked at it, it was a model of teeth and gums.

i bought it.

To put it in my office.

Years from now.

Zombies!

Hello people :)

It's been some time. My modem crashed and i had to do without the internetz for some days now.

Anyway, now it's back and working, sooo i have a little something, as always!

This is a comic panel from a project i've been invited to participate.. The main idea is that there are about 5 stories per volume, and each story features each creator's characters, fighting against a threat common for all the stories in the volume.

Well, here is just a sneak peek, not really much.

Mine will be featuring Artemis, Danny and Luke (well, mainly Artemis, and nearly not Danny and Luke at all) fighting some zombies created by magic.

The the other creators featured in the volume, are Sam Johnson, Mike Gagnon, Spyros Evangelos Armenis and George Kambadais.

Not-comic-wise, life's been treating me good these days.

Except for the tonsilitis I got from exhausting myself beyond my limits. -_-

Luckily, it was while dentistry was closed, so i did not get any absences in labs.

Unluckily, art college was open and I lost two days of useful lessons...

Can't complain, I had it coming.

Off to keep working now.

Wolves and distortions

Hallo people!

Today it is Sunday and i had an 11 hour sleep, which i deserved. :)

This Friday i am writing yet another midterm exam, so i have to study hard. :/

Oh dear dentistry, why is it that every lab has about 2-3 midterm exams each term...?

Keep in mind that this semester, i have 4 distinct lab lessons.

Now, to the art part.

This week, we had distortions and perspectives of a figurine for class. The professor pointed out that my line style is totally different from one topic to another. The point is that i feel more comfortable drawing things from my mind than from real life.

Well... When i observe an item to draw it, i try to make it look exactly as it is. On the other hand, when i am observing something to sketch later, or in a different perspective, i try to memorise the basic shapes of which it is composed, and then relate them in different, yet feasible, ways.

As for distorions, (which i don't usually do) i tried to keep the shapes and volumes in mind, while i changed some sizes and curves.

And they all look creepy. O_O

Inking part2

Hallo all you people :)

Today I studied for dentistry, because we have a mid-term exam and i don't want to be left behind. I am in two schools and I have to be good at both! Yes sir.
Soooo I find my self finding out that periodontology is more complex than it looks. So, people, wash your teeth thorougly but gently.

Now, the interesting part!
I tried to make an action scene-something that would be good for a fight.
I'm happy with the results! ^^ The effort i put into inking paid out.
And then I filled it with all the things i could find in photoshop. -_-

Inking an' liking.

Hallo people! Today I was playing with my brand new set of rapidographs.
My senpai in art college is an amazing inker and i was trying to pick up some of her tricks-like the way she draws lace.
Avgi, you are awesome.
Thank you for the inspiration!

(I want to be a better inker T-T )
(And better at traditional colouring)
(And digital)
(And storytelling)
(Still got lots of way to go.)




By the way, here is an exercise we have for Firday-it's not finished yet, but I have a feeling it is turning out allright. :) The character is Artemis, as seen in the previous image I uploaded.

Plus, I will be on the lookout for any jobs I can get these days-as many as I can handle, more like it. Maybe submit prints to DA, pull some strings to find a little bit of something...
It would be a boost to my ego and pocket money. (damn all that expensive equipment for art class...) My wallet feels drained.

Characters' pinup!!!!

Hey people!

Today is a good day, and tomorrow will be better!

It is a good day because my head doesn't feel like my brain is expanding while someone is hitting me with a hammer. Yes, yes, these damn headaches just wait for me, don't they?

Now, to the point. I've done a pinup for the Artemis project, with all the main characters.

from left to right, top to bottom it's:

I enjoyed making this. :)

Used pencil for the lineart (2B faber castell)

The rest is photoshop.

I feel happy. :)

The story so far goes a little bit like that:

Artemis is a bored little girl, and when she finds a magic book in her school's library, she actually tries to do some spells.

The problem is, the spell got a little bit out of hand and here is where the school's club of magic, a selfish little brat, a group of goths, a clique of trendies, a perverted old man and an owl enter the story.
